Nothing Against Nothing
NOTHING AGAINST NOTHING explores the boundless tolerance of the current thirty-something generation. The film centers on a group of characters who attend a meeting for adults who had been adopted as children.
A young couple arrive incognito at the foundation meeting of a non-profit organization for people who were adopted in childhood, aimed at the promotion of adoption in society as a whole. Neither of them was actually adopted themselves, but since they are considering adopting a child they want to see first-hand what influence such an experience can have on an individual. Over the course of several days (spent in a camping site in West Bohemia where the meeting is taking place) it gradually emerges that they are not the only ones hiding their true motivation and identities. The situation gets out of hand, forcing everyone to improvise and to take on roles they are ill-fitted to play. Whether these are the roles of self-proclaimed leader, femme fatale, rebel, ingénue, or soul-searching pedophile, each reveals his or her motivation and secret, thus unleashing further bizarre and comical situations.
The film is based on motifs developed by an improvised production of the LÁHOR/soundsystem ensemble, whose members also act in the film roles. The film was shot using the method of collective improvisation and based on a rigorously structured script.
