Berlin Diary: What Do You See?

Publicado el Septiembre 14, 2011 por xhiller

There is so much graffiti in Berlin. So many tags, stickers, stenciled and sprayed artworks. Why did I choose this image? First of all the Giacometti-like figures in black caught my attention. Just a few lines build these evocative figures. What are they looking at - and why are they doing it in tandem? The Berlin Wall is right across the street. Or do they see something in the sky? I like the placement at the base of the bridge supports - the heavy granite. You see the work if you’re on your bike and have to stop at the light. Most of all, I like the

feel. A bit restrained but somehow atmospheric. Self-promotion it’s not. What is the artist saying? That is why I stopped, looked, and photographed.
