I Want My Father Back
A powerful film by documentary filmmaker Suma Josson about the suicide wave among farmers in Vidarbha, India. It is also a case against Monsanto's genetically modified seeds, the debt trap farmers face, and a plea for organic agriculture.
Vidarbha is in the eastern region of Maharastra State in India. The film examines the reasons behind these suicides. It begins with the change from traditional organic farming, in which farmers were responsible for their own seed stock, to a 'revolution' that included taking out loans to buy seeds, fertilizers and pesticide. The debt-loan trap and the devastating effects of genetically modified seeds led many farmers to ruin. The film advocates organic farming and ultimately shows that the death of the farmer also means the death of the soil.

Food is tempting to the taste buds and brings people together for social gatherings. But how did the food on our plates get there, and how does the production of our 'daily bread' affect the world we live in?
