Sweden in the 1950s: 16-year-old Erik lives with his mother and stepfather in a typical nuclear family idyll. So it seems. At home, Erik gets beaten by his stepfather. Erik turns around and acts out his hatred toward his stepfather by getting into schoolyard fist fights and he ends up getting thrown out of school.
His last chance for a high school diploma is the elite private boarding school Stjärnsberg. Behind its elite facade however the school reveals an inhuman system of oppression and humiliation. How long can you tolerate all this, Erik? EVIL is the autobiography of Oscar-nominated bestseller author Jan Guillou, and was Scandinavia's greatest commercial movie success in recent decades.
