Watch the inspiration of Amos Poe’s Warhol homage EMPIRE II at Club Transmediale:
“Groupshow presents an 8-hour performance with Andy Warhol’s film ‘Empire’, a marathon event which dissolves into a hybrid of audiovisual installation and concert. Here, improvisation as a process-based art form meets a cinematic study of time unfolding. The single-shot recording of New York’s Empire State Building was filmed on the night of July 25th, 1964, from 20:06 pm to 2:42 am. Warhol slowed down the number of frames per minute, giving the film a length of 8 hours and 6 min. ‘Groupshow with Empire’ is part of the ‘Warhol Series’ commissioned by the Unsound 2008 festival, a series of works giving new musical settings to Warhol films.” (more…)
The 11th edition of Club Transmediale (CMT), Berlin’s unique Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Visual Arts, considered by many to be Berlin’s best pop and music event, is on from January 28th to February 7th 2010 under the title OVERLAP – Sound & Other Media. CTM is a prominent international festival dedicated to contemporary electronic, digital and experimental music, as well as the diverse range of artistic activities in the context of sound and club culture. The UNERHÖRT international music film festival is making a stop in Berlin from December 10-13, 2009 in the fsk Kino and Eiszeit Kino cinemas in Kreuzberg. For example, check out ON/OFF: Mark Stewart - From the Pop Group to the Maffia on Saturday the 12th at 10:30 pm. Both the director Toni Schifer and protagonist Mark Stewart are scheduled to appear as guests. The program also offers films about Pina Bausch, the Topp Twins, Dirty Princess from Madrid, a selection of top music clips by the magazine SPEX and many others.
