UNERHÖRT Musikfilmfestival in Berlin

The UNERHÖRT international music film festival is making a stop in Berlin from December 10-13, 2009 in the fsk Kino and Eiszeit Kino cinemas in Kreuzberg. For example, check out ON/OFF: Mark Stewart - From the Pop Group to the Maffia on Saturday the 12th at 10:30 pm. Both the director Toni Schifer and protagonist Mark Stewart are scheduled to appear as guests. The program also offers films about Pina Bausch, the Topp Twins, Dirty Princess from Madrid, a selection of top music clips by the magazine SPEX and many others.

Avtrykk - Kari Iveland

A collaboration with Madagascar musicians

Norway  - Kari Iveland has a new recording, Avtrykk (Impressions), featuring her band playing with choirs and musicians from Madagascar. After releasing the Vektbs (Weightless) CD on the KKV label in 2002, Kari Iveland is now presenting music new and old from Madagascar.

Songs have traveled across oceans and continents and been heard and recreated far from their origins. Such are the impressions on Kari Iveland’s new CD. She traveled to Madagascar and found new versions of the songs Europeans exported more than a hundred years ago. (more…)
