Howard Zinn was a dedicated civil rights activist and historian and this book tells his life’s story. Anyone interested in America as a land of equal opportunity, peace policy and social activism should read this book. Historian and Civil Rights Activist Howard Zinn Dies at 87
Howard Zinn, the professor, historian and social activist and one of the America’s outstanding intellectual social critics, has died. Zinn served as an Air Force pilot in WWII and became deeply involved in the civil rights and peace movements. Zinn’s most famous work A People’s History of the United States is a history textbook that offers comprehensive alternative perspectives on American history. Along with his scholarly works in historical science, Zinn also published three theater plays including “Marx in Soho”.

Howard Zinn

Howard Zinn (born August 24, 1922) is an American historian, political scientist, social critic, activist, playwright, and Democratic Socialist intellectual, best known as author of the bestseller A People’s History of the United States.
Zinn has been active in the movements for Civil Rights, Civil Liberties and the anti-war movements in the United States. He has written extensively on all three subjects. (more…)
